Brooks ID Members Log All-American Performances at Masters Indoor Meet
Grant and Claire Overstake of Hillsboro, Kan. brought home seven gold medals and one bronze medal from the Heartland Open and Masters Indoor Track and Field Meet held Saturday at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan.
The meet, sponsored by Heartland Athletic Services, Inc., attracted 125 masters athletes from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, California, Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Claire won the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, 200m dash, shot put, and pole vault. Competing in the pole vault for the first time, she exceeded the Master’s All-America standard set by the USATF.
Grant won the shot put and long jump and was third in the pole vault. Grant met the All-America Standard for the shot put. The Overstakes are 52 years-old and compete in the 50-54 age group.
We are members of the Brooks ID Program. The I.D. stands for Inspire Daily. These two simple words guide the principles of the program.
Brooks I.D. is made up of over 800 members who are active in their running communities and share a passion for the Brooks brand. They are runners who are winners in their own right: Winning their age divisions, accomplishing their personal goals, pushing their own limits, and, by extension, encouraging others to do the same. They are coaches, mentors, and leaders.
We specialize in the combined events. Claire has been the USATF Master’s national champion in the heptathlon in her age group for the past two years. Grant placed third in the USATF Masters national decathlon championship last year.
God willing, we will return to the US combined events championships in June, and are looking forward to representing the USA in a combined meet against masters athletes from Great Britain in London in 2012, during the week before the Olympic Games begin.
