Claire Sets 200 Meter Record at Kansas Senior Olympics

Claire and I had a great time and enjoyed success in the two-day Track and Field competition at the Kansas Senior Olympics, held Aug. 26-27 in Topeka. The weather was great! We enjoyed good health and great fellowship among the participants. It was a happy ending to a very rewarding master’s track and field season.

There were competitors from several states in the competition, drawn to one of the best-run master’s meets in the Midwest. Claire placed first in the 100, 200 and 400 meter runs, setting a Senior Olympics record in the 200! She also tied for first in the high jump, second in the javelin, and was third in the long jump, shot put, and discus.

I was second in the discus, long jump and high jump, tied for second in the shot put, fourth in the pole vault, and fourth in the javelin.

This off-season, we will work on our basic conditioning, using the P90X program as well as workouts designed by Juan Carlos Santana. Our son has begun classes at to get his personal trainer’s certificate at Heritage College in Wichita, so we’re sure to get some training tips from him as well.

Ralph Waldo Emerson: The first wealth is health.

We are thankful to be among the wealthy ones.
